Sail Rock is a granite pinnacle standing alone in open water between Koh Tao and Koh Phangan, rising from the seabed all the way to the surface. With no reef around it, everything in the area gathers on the rock — which is what makes it the most sought-after site in the Gulf of Thailand.
What makes it special
The rock is famous for the Chimney, a vertical swim-through that runs inside the pinnacle, and for the sheer amount of life around it: large schools of barracuda, trevally, batfish and fusiliers circling the walls. Whale sharks are sometimes spotted here in season — never guaranteed, always unforgettable.
Who it’s for
Sail Rock is a boat trip to an exposed site in open water, so it is reserved for certified divers. The minimum certification level depends on the conditions and the dive plan, and is shown on each date in the calendar.
